Sister's Cactus

Here's a few pictures to make up for missing a few days again.  Technically, the '365 Project' is supposed to be taking photos everyday.  Well, I'm not keeping up with that the best. BUT, the good thing is, I am definitely getting my photography excitment back!

Sister Mary Amy stopped in again today, to tell me about her cactus. So, I figured I'd humor her, and was escorted to her community room.  It turned out to be a very good idea. We had a very nice chat. Her energy and excitement instantly put me in a good mood.  Thanks Sister Amy!! That's just what I needed!

Donut Day!

Whew! I have some catching up to do. So far, no pics for the weekend (or Monday).  But, here's a photo for today (Tuesday, Feb 16th).  Traditionally, the day before Ash Wednesday is, in essence, 'pig out' day. Donuts are a good sugary staple.

Final Fan for Now

(Friday) Here's my last fan pic for now.  I do envision one more picture with it though.  Sometime in the near future, I plan on setting up my lighting and taking a sepia-toned "old" photo of the cool fan. So, stay tuned!

Stuck on the Fan and Seeing Clearly

Actually, I'm not 'stuck' on the fan.  It becomes a challenge to photograph the same subject over and over. Its a very good exercise to help you see more creatively.  I feel that I've now pretty much exhausted the fan, so I'll probably try one or two more days with it. Just to push the envelope.

Back in college, I loved driving home after Drawing class.  Because, after spending a couple hours concentrating intensely on every edge and shadow of the subject, I began to notice everything.  Driving home, every shadow, gentle slope of the land, fence post - every edge seemed much more acute.  Its almost a surreal state of vision.  Well, Tuesday, I had the same experience - after concentrating on my "Fan" pictures.  Its very nice to have that experience again after so long.

Steam Clouds

Here's a post for yestarday.
Another inspirational morning. I looked out my office window, and the sun was at just the perfect angle to make the steam clouds radiant. So, I grabbed my camera and started shooting -- right from my desk chair!

I like this time of year. It is getting light a little earlier each day. So, my hour long drive in the morning offers some nice sunrises and awesome winter morning color in the sky.

Have a great day!

More Fans ...

Since I missed the weekend, I spent a little extra time photographing my cool retro fan. Here are 3 pics to enjoy.  I tell ya, once I start putzin' around with my camera, it's really hard to stop. I'm pretty happy with the images I captured today. Enjoy!

Armarillus Flower

Here's a photo (taken today) for Friday's post.  It is a very beautiful plant. This one was given to a friend as a 'thank you'.  Apparently it grows from a bulb, and really likes sunlight. I'm gonna try growing one myself!

It was a very nice weekend. Friday, I went down to the city for a Doctor appointment.  I make the most of my appointment days.  They're almost like a nice vacation day. A full day to myself -- shopping, eating out, spending my day however I like.  (After the doctor appointment, that is.)  The drive in the winter storm was an adventure.  I'm a hearty Minnesotan!

Then, Saturday, we went snow tubing at Powder Ridge.  It was a great time. It was the first time I've ever gone tubing at an actually snow tubing park. The sun was shining, and the afternoon was warm.  We laughed a lot!  The rest of the weekend was spent at home, catching up on various things.

All-in-all, a great weekend!!!

Retro Fan 2

Day Two of the cool retro fan.  This pic turned out well.  I did a little post-processing, and it really helped create an art piece.  Stay tuned for more fan pictures.

Retro Fan

In my office, I have a really cool old fan. I bought it from a yard sale for a buck.  It doesn't work the best, and it's really loud and makes an annoying clicking sound. But that doesn't matter, because it is the coolest looking fan!

This cool retro fan will be my photo subject for awhile.  So, let's see what I can come up with.

Hope you have a great day!

Hurrle Sunrise

I looked out my office window this morning, and was inspired! The great sunrise was peaking around Hurrle Hall. Takeing this picture was a very nice way to start the day!

I'm gonna try again with this whole 365 project.  As you can see, I'm having trouble following through. So, I think I'll start over -- beginning today.
